Poornima
Rai is a senior IT professional with over 17 years of experience in the
field of Information Technology. She started her career in Chicago in
1995 after graduating from Northern Illinois University with a MS in
Computer Science. She continued to work there until 2010 when she moved
to Washington DC to join the United States Peace Corps. Poornima has a
vast background in IT having worked in many different roles across many
different industries. In Chicago she spent the first 7 years as a
consultant working in Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 companies primarily
in the Financial services sector at Northern Trust , Wachovia and
Chicago Board Options Exchange. Later she joined Zurich Insurance where
she was involved in setting up a Delivery Organization for Zurich’s
Claims department in Hyderabad , India. Subsequently she worked at
Orbitz World Wide as the IT lead for their Back Office Operations,
Hosting and the White Label platform. Presently, she works at Peace
Corps where she is responsible for the IT Operations of the agency.
Poornima has a degree in Engineering Management from Northwestern
University in addition to degrees in Organic Chemistry from NIU and
Mumbai University in India.
